for the first time in a long time

Went fishing today for the first time in decades. Well ... it is still fun! And I can still cast without falling in so that's something. Says something for that old Dupont monofilament when it can sit on a Zebco reel for 30 years and, pop! there you are casting out the jitterbug and the rubber frog like it was new-out-of-the-box. Good old engineering. Don't we miss that today? On the way into the park, found the remains of a new Shakespeare spin-casting rig in the trash bin. Apparently they hooked something bigger than a bluegill and it tore the gears up just before the rod fractured at the 3rd ring.

Anyhow, it was fun ... and the grand-daughters had a pretty good time as well catching the little bluegills and then setting them free (well, except for one poor chap who turned himself into cat food by swallowing the hook deeeeep down). I think we'll have to do that again ... and not before another 30 years goes by either.
